EWC Veterinary Technician Program

Eastern Wyoming College is equipped to provide the best educational opportunities to its students. Its mission is to establish itself as a student centered, comprehensive community college responding to the social, economic & cultural needs of its students and communities. In 2008 it was accepted in the Foundations of Excellence in the First College Year. It has been accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and American Welding Society.

It is providing various AA Degree, AAS Degree courses and certificate courses. Courses in Accounting, Agriculture, Biology, Computer Science, Cosmetology, Criminal Justice and Music are offered. A wide range of pre-professional Courses like Pre-Dentistry, Pre-Medicine, Pre-Veterinary Medicine, Psychology, Sociology, Veterinary Technology etc are also provided.

For giving the best guidance in the Veterinary Technician Program, EWC has engaged three veterinarians, one medical doctor and two veterinary technicians to guide the students enrolled for this program. The veterinary technology program as offered by EWC is accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA). The graduates of this course are eligible to take the Veterinary Technician National Examination which is a pre-requisite to work as a veterinary technician in many states. Over 90% of EWC graduates who appear for VTNE; pass this examination.

The veterinary technology program can be completed in four semesters or students may spread it to five semesters as well. Financial Aid and scholarships are offered for the aspiring qualifying students. Students who are passionate about animals do very well in the Veterinary Technology course. The course curriculum trains the students on the medical nursing procedures and technical laboratory tasks. It helps to prepare them for their real profession.

Veterinary technicians get a variety of job opportunities to work in veterinary clinics, veterinary diagnostics, veterinary supply sales, veterinary teaching hospitals, humane societies, biomedical research, wildlife facilities, zoo, pharmaceutical, feed sales, USDA/APHIS or food inspection etc.
